Welcome to our new website.
We will try to keep you up to date on things going on in Castleiney National School.
Since we came back in September, we have been extremely busy and the children have been working really hard.
We made plum and apple jam and scones
We’ve taken part in the u-13 football. Unfortunately we were not successful this time, but all the children played fantastic.
Reaping the garden rewards- September
We were so lucky to come back in September to dig up the remainder of our vegetables. we decided to make vegetable soup. Everyone took part and we all tasted the yummy soup. We were delighted with the results 🙂
Road and Bike safety
Ciarán Smithers from the Road Safety Authority came and did a presentation about road safety and we talked about ways we can be safer on our bikes and in the car. We can wear our belt in the car. On our bike or out walking, we must wear our Hi- vis. vest and helmets and remember the rules of the road.
Visit from St. Vincents De Paul Templemore
We had a visit to the school about all the work that is done in the Templemore branch of St. Vincent de Paul and what they do to help people in the locality.
All the children and staff have been taking part in the Food Dudes programme for the last couple of weeks.Food Dudes is a programme developed by the University of Wales, Bangor, to encourage children to eat more fruit and vegetables both in school and at home. It is based on positive role models (the Food Dudes characters), repeated tasting and rewards. In large-scale studies in schools in England and Wales and pilot studies in schools in Ireland, the Programme has been shown to be effective and results long lasting across the primary age range. It is ultimately designed to enable children to enjoy eating healthy diets, and to create a healthy eating culture within schools.
We are loving the menu so far- carrots, apples, oranges, cucumber, raisins, peppers etc.
Tús maith, leath na hoibre 🙂
