Mr. Harkin

Mr Harkin was appointed Principal teacher in September 2018 and teaches 3rd-6th class & SET. He was previously in the school as a shared resource teacher. 

After completing his Bachelor of Arts In Irish & Religious studies, Mr Harkin began life as a Secondary School Teacher in St Fergal’s College, Rathdowney. Mr Harkin gave three years as a teacher of Irish, History & Religion. In 2011, he went to England to do a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and worked in London for the following 2 years. Mr. Harkin then travelled to Dubai, where he spent a further 3 years teaching Primary children in Dubai British School. It was here he got his first taste of school management, first as a Subject Leader, Phonics Co-Ordinator and then as a Head of Year. In a school of over 1100 pupils, this experience was invaluable. In 2022, Mr. Harkin completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Special Education and endeavors to bring new skills to his role as Additional Educational Needs Co-Ordinator in CNS. 

Mr Harkin is a member of the Borrisoleigh Senior Hurling team, is a keen musician and loves to travel. He has two lovely sons, Louie & Mike, with his wife Marie.
